Essential Requirements

To be eligible to receive a start-up visa for a business venture, you must:

• prove your business idea is supported by a designated investor organization
• meet the language requirements
• meet the education requirements
• have sufficient settlement funds

Eligibility

1. A commitment of support from designated Canadian venture capital funds/angel investor groups/business incubators
2. An ability to communicate in either French or English
3. Completion of one year of study at a post-secondary institution
4. An adequate amount of money in order to settle and provide for the cost of living prior to earning an income

Minimum Investments Required

• Applicants with support from a designated Canadian venture capital fund must secure a minimum investment of $200,000.
• Applicants with support from a designated Canadian angel investor group must secure a minimum investment of $75,000.
• Applicants can also opt for support from below designated Canadian business incubator programs:

3. Innovacorp
4. Innovate Calgary
5. Toronto Business Development Centre

Visa Fee & Processing Time

Principal applicant: $1050

Each family member age 22 or older: $550

Each family member under age 22 who is married or in a common-law relationship: $550

Each family member under age 22 who is unmarried and not in a common-law relationship: $150

Right of Permanent Residence Fee:  $490/member
