The Areas of Training List gives the number of points which the candidates receive for specific foreign and Quebec University, a college or a secondary-level vocational degree in the Quebec Skilled Worker Program.
Area of Training is a factor among the ten that gets a consideration in the point’s grid in the QSWP. It is also worth up to 12 points.
The most precious overseas degrees, which get the maximum 12 points in the new list, are Information Management, Early Childhood Education, and Actuarial Science.
The revised Areas of Training List is a major change to come into effect in the immigration system of Quebec from August 2.
Quebec will also move to a new Expression of Interest system for the QSWP. It will allot a rank to the eligible candidates that are based on work experience in the USA.
The EOI system is a replacement of the time based approach which Quebec was using in managing the QSWP applications. Thus Quebec will require a candidate to submit an EOI profile to its Immigration Ministry for QSWP.
A candidate can enter the Profile into a bank of candidates. Afterwards MIDI will select such aspirants who meet labor market requirements and can integrate successfully into the economy and society.
There will be two groups, first for the eligible candidates who are live in Quebec and meet criteria or have a job offer in the province. The second will have candidates who live outside Quebec.
Candidates will get a rank based on the score in many factors, like age, French/English proficiency, education and US/ Canadian work experience. Quebec has also listed the Area of Training as a ranking factor for applying from outside the province. The points here also get a consideration when candidates get the invitation to apply for a CSQ. They have to meet the employability cut-off score and get a minimum passing score of 50.
