20 Aug 2019

Saskatchewan Immigration
Saskatchewan Immigration conducted two draws in the sub-categories of Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand and as a result issued 150 invitations totally. The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program makes use of the unique point grid in the Expression of Interest for giving a rank to candidates in these two sub-categories. The draw on August 15th for provincial nomination had 45 candidates in Express Entry and 105 in Occupations In-Demand category. Candidates needed the minimum EOI score of 78.

Also the candidates get this score out of 100 depending on factors like education, work experience, language proficiency (English or French) and certain connections to the province. The top scoring candidates in these categories get the invitation through regular pool draws.

Express Entry

Express Entry Stream in Saskatchewan has a link with the federal system of Express Entry. Candidates already figuring in the EE pool and those meeting the requirements for succeeding in the province are selected for the provincial nomination.

The successful Express Entry candidates in provincial nomination get 600 additional points in the CRS score. All federal draws need a CRS score above 400, and this serves as a guarantee to get the ITA for permanent residence in Canada.

Occupations In-Demand

The processing of applications seeking Canadian Permanent Residence for the eligible Candidates of the Occupation In-Demand sub-category happens outside the Express Entry System. Having a job offer is not necessary for this sub-category, but the candidates must possess a rich experience in any of the 19 occupations presently listed in the top demand in Saskatchewan.

So far in 2019, SINP issued 1,789 invitations in the Occupation In-Demand sub-category and 1,315 in the Express Entry sub-category. The provincial programs are a suitable option for the candidates who have a low score in the Express Entry.
